Gabriel Rising, a fully-owned subsidiary of Genesis House International, Inc., (GHI) a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
GHI was founded upon one principle:
Every human being, no matter their disability, financial status, age or gender, deserves to live a dignified, fulfilled, and fully realized life.
Our mission is to improve the lives of underserved populations by providing safe, affordable housing, necessary community support, education, and recreation as well as to make meaningful job opportunities accessible.
We will provide provide safe, supportive, affordable housing, community supports that focus on independent living skills, employment training, advocacy, ongoing education, and community engagement.
Our 68,000 sq. ft. facility is surrounded by approximately 35 pristine acres of mature Pine, Oak, and Magnolia trees in Thomasville, Georgia, we are presented a unique opportunity to provide a myriad of community-based service programs that will enhance the lives of thousands of Special Needs citizens, low income seniors and military veterans and homeless women and children.
Founded in 2017, by Jacqueline Knight, the seed of this unique project began almost from the very moment her adopted, special needs son, Gabriel, came to live in her Florida home.
Gabriel Rising was created in response to her very personal struggles with the growing disparity of residential, social, recreational, and employment services for individuals with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.
After the adoption of her son Gabriel, who was born with Cerebral Palsey, Ms. Knight struggled to find adequate services for him as he continued to grow.
Finally, out of frustaration and love, she decided that she would build the world she wanted him to live in. Thus Genesis House International was born.
After acquiring the Rosehaven Building on the campus of the old Southwestern State Hospital in 2022, The Lilly project was added to serve as Transitional Housing for homeless women and children.
Our primary goal is to create inclusive communities that are dedicated to making a positive impact on these special needs communities.
Our team is made up of passionate volunteers and professionals who are led by a full-time Executive Director, Jacqueline Knight; and governed by a distinguished Board of Directors who head up various organizations and agencies, and are committed to protecting and serving our target populations.
We have experts in the Mental Health industry as well as current and former Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities employees, current and retired educators, substance abuse specialists, caregivers, CNA's, and many other disciplines who work together to achieve our multi-faceted mission.
Not only are we supported by some of the top industry leaders in the region, we have three current CEO's, of multi-million dollar companies as Board Members.
